The charm of the old building and the friendliness of the staff made up for what I didn't like about my stay. I did get a free upgrade to make up for the long wait at the front desk. The restaraunt was OUTSTANDING! We didn't have to leave once to find food elsewhere.
There was no toilet paper in the room and we had to request that some be brought up. The ice machine did not work and we had to request that some be brought up. The kitchen hood could not keep up with the cooking smoke and the fire alarm went off. We had to evacuate for a while. My reservation was not in the computer and we had to wait while they tried to find it. It was prepaid and the front desk receptionist said that I had none. It was resolved eventually.

Location: the hotel was just next door to a local BBQ restaurant, the downtown area, and Excelsior Springs, Missouri. A nice size room with bathroom and a much nicer bed, for instance, and the pool was clean.

We enjoyed a 1st floor suite with beautiful views of the pool and hotel grounds. Very comfortable with modern updates, 2 flat screen TV's and new memory foam matteress that were very comfortable. We used the hot tub and swimming pool even though it wasvery a late Nov. Evening. The restaurant/bar was quiant and good food.
The new "Grotto" area was not finished.

The Elms Hotel & Spa is a dream getaway for us! The spacious and modern rooms, along with the beautiful grounds, make it a perfect choice. We loved lounging by the outdoor pool and the exceptionally large indoor lap pool. The 16-acre grounds, floral walkway, and night lights create a serene atmosphere. The historic limestone building, built in 1912, with its porches and lounge areas, adds to the charm. The adjustable temperature setting in each room was a great feature. we can't express how much we loved our stay!
We felt more than at home at The Elms Hotel & Spa, with no complaints whatsoever.
